ABOUT ME

So, who AM I? Well, I'm a Vietnamese-American filmmaker residing in Los Angeles, California. I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico to immigrant parents. In high school, I enjoyed film photography and studied the light in Ansel Adams photography. Then for college, I attended the University of New Mexico and received a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts (now renamed, "Cinematography"). After that, I moved to LA so I could work with the best.

I view life through two sets of values instead of one. Growing up Vietnamese-American allows me to see the world with two different perspectives - both an eastern and western point of view. I always try to see both sides to every story and this translates to how I negotiate and collaborate on projects. Being raised by immigrants has given me a strong work ethic. I put meticulous care and organization into every job I commit myself to.
I decided to pursue the traditional way of climbing the camera department ladder - start from the bottom and work hard in each role, making mistakes and learning from them along the way to truly understand the camera department. In this process, I've worked with both big and small budgets and seen how different sets are run. All of them are beautiful and I love what I do.
Thanks for reading a bit about me, and I look forward to hearing about you.
